Samantha E. Middendorf Memorial Journalism Scholarship

The following criteria must be met:
1. The recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student majoring in journalism accepted to Eastern Illinois University.
2. The recipient must maintain an overall cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
3. If the recipient(s) is an incoming student(s) there must be an interest shown in participation with the Daily Eastern News (DEN). Current students must have shown significant participation with the Daily Eastern News (DEN).
4. The recipient(s) must show a commitment to a journalism career by writing a statement of at least 250 words explaining his/her career objectives.
5. Preference is given but not required for volunteer service in fields relating to journalism, writing, education, music, animal welfare, and/or domestic violence programs.
6. Preference is given to student(s) with a special interest in focusing their academic and career work in entertainment reporting.
7. Financial need may be a consideration as a tie-breaker between recipients that meet all other criteria.
8. The recipient(s) may be eligible to apply for the award again provided he/she continues to meet criteria.

This award will be announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall.
