EIU Community Ambassador Scholarship

For incoming freshmen from central Illinois. Requires an essay explaining how they have been & will be a role model in the community.

Full description:
The following criteria must be met:

  1. The recipient(s) must be a high school senior due to graduate in the spring.
  2. The recipient(s) must attend high school in Champaign, Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Jasper, Macon, Moultrie, Piatt, Richland, Shelby or Vermilion Counties.
  3. The recipient(s) must submit a statement/essay explaining how they have been a role model for students at their high school and peers in their community. This can include examples of involvement, leadership, community service and recognition. Also, include in this essay how they plan to continue being a role model as an EIU student.
  4. The award shall be announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall Semester.

Wells Fargo Advisors local office (Managing Director – Gary Swearingen) donated $20,000 to launch the Community Ambassador Scholarship Fund in 2017 which supports local high school students looking to continue their education at EIU. Since then many local area businesses and individuals have contributed to this fund.
