S.L. Nanda and J.L. Nanda Mathematics and Science Scholarship

The following criteria must be met:

  1. The recipient(s) must have been accepted to & plan to attend EIU as a full-time student with a declared major in (College of Sciences) Biological Sciences, Physics, Math, Chemistry, Geology, and Math & Computer Science, and any of the fore-mentioned majors with teacher certification.
  2. Eligible candidates will be graduating from Charleston High School (CHS) in either the Fall or Spring of the respective academic year and must have completed a minimum of 16 credit hours of recognized science/math coursework upon graduation at CHS. Recognized CHS courses include all those listed under Math or Science in the Course Descriptions for CHS. Additionally, Computer Concepts and Applications I & II will be recognized. Coursework completed from these eligible classes will then be used to calculate the candidate’s Math/Science GPA.
  3. The awardees must be the eligible candidates with the highest point total based on the following equation: (Math & Science GPA x 2) + (Cumulative GPA) at the time of application.
  4. Financial need is not a requirement.

The award is payable when the recipient has reached junior status and only after the recipient(s) declared major has been verified to be eligible for this award within three to four (3-4) years of CHS graduation.
