EIU Grow Your Own

The EIU Grow Your Own Grant is a IBHE Forgivable Loan. Candidates must reapply and agree to the following to be considered for the funding each semester.

Each candidate is required to:
1. Submit FAFSA Application and apply for all available financial aid before receiving GYO funding.
2. Update contact information each semester through graduation until teaching obligation completed.
3. Submit course schedule each semester until graduation and contact office if any changes occur (course issues, dropped classes, program problems, etc.)
4. Register for at least 6 hours each semester and complete with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
5. Apply for all required assessments and pass them (support will be available).
6. Attend monthly GYO required meetings and activities.
7. After graduation, apply to teach at an approved high need district and participate in GYO induction activities.
8. Complete 5 years of teaching in an eligible hard to staff/high need school.
