Lumpkin College Study Abroad Scholarship

This award is intended to benefit EIU undergraduate students with majors in the Lumpkin College of Business and Technology. In order to be eligible for this award, students must have applied to (and later be admitted to) the Lumpkin College Summer Study Abroad program to Florence, Italy, and be able to demonstrate financial need.

Preference will be given to students belonging to traditionally underrepresented groups and/or first-generation students enrolled in good standing at EIU who qualify for financial aid and who demonstrate financial need.

To apply for this award, you will need the ID number from your EIU study abroad application.

There may be more than one application opportunity open at a time. Please review the following timeline to make sure you are applying for the correct opportunity: the summer program application will open in October-November and have a January-February deadline.

The following criteria must be met:

1. The recipient must be enrolled in good standing at EIU and qualify for financial aid.
2. The recipient must be an undergraduate student with a major in the School of Technology or the School of Business.
3. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need and either belong to a traditionally underrepresented group and/or are first-generation students.
4. Scholarship may be spent on tuition, fees, travel expenses, study materials, and other expenditures directly related to travelling abroad.

To begin applying for this scholarship, you must have applied online for the Lumpkin College of Business and Technology Summer Study Abroad program to Florence, Italy. Your study abroad application ID number, which is required as part of this scholarship application, is automatically generated as soon as you start your online program application. Do not wait until you are admitted to a study abroad program to submit this scholarship application. Eventually, you will need to be officially admitted to the Lumpkin College study abroad program in order to be considered for this award. Review of scholarship applications begins immediately after the application submission deadline.

Award notifications will be emailed to students at least one week before the study abroad program’s down payment (commitment deposit) deadline. Study abroad scholarship funds cannot be used to pay for program commitment deposits. Scholarship award money is disbursed to student accounts at the start of the study abroad program and is applied to any outstanding account balance first. Students are encouraged to set up direct deposit through Student Accounts prior to program departure.
