Maynard "Pat" O'Brien Scholarship

The following criteria must be met:
1. Recipient(s) shall be nominated from among the Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Men’s or Women’s Intercollegiate Track and Field teams at Eastern Illinois University. Recipients may receive the award more than once, but must be re-nominated.
2. If the recipient(s) are underclassmen then they shall intend to compete as a member of the Intercollegiate Track and Field team of the University during their tenure at EIU. Senior recipients may receive the cash stipend with the funds used in a manner consistent with the integrity of the award.
3. Preference will be given to those individuals who compete in the Field events.
4. Factors to be considered include athletic performance, tenaciousness, leadership qualities, academic standing, and financial need.
5. If several equally qualified candidates are available, preference will be given to those intending to pursue an athletic coaching career.

Award announced in spring and awarded in fall.
