Marilyn Joy Coles Music Study Abroad Scholarship

The following criteria must be met:
1. Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Music and accepted to Eastern Illinois University. Incoming students (first-year or transfer) shall not be eligible for this award.
2. Must maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
3. A brief statement must be included with information on the study abroad program and how it will influence the recipient professionally.
4. Financial need is not a consideration.
5. Preference given in the following order:
a) Music students participating in a Summer or Semester Program at Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria or another EIU-recognized study abroad program studying vocal performance or music education.
b) Music students participating in a Summer or Semester Program at Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria or another EIU-recognized study abroad program studying piano performance or music education.
c) Music students participating in a Summer or Semester Program at Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria or another EIU-recognized study abroad program studying instrumental performance or music education (and including composition majors).
d) If no student qualifies or is otherwise able to participate in a study abroad program, then a scholarship shall be provided to a vocal music major studying vocal performance or music education with a vocal concentration. Students must meet the criteria as outlined above to qualify for the scholarship.

The recipients may be eligible to apply for the award again provided they continue to meet the criteria stated herein.
This award is announced in the Spring and may be disbursed in the following Fall semester.
