Richard and Kathy Hummel Scholarship

The following criteria must be met:

  1. Recipient (s) must be majoring in Sociology or Criminology and Criminal Justice and accepted to Eastern Illinois University.
  2. Recipient (s) must have at least 18 hrs. of Sociology or Criminology coursework completed or being completed during the semester the award is being made.
  3. Recipient (s) must have at least one semester full-time (12-semester hrs. minimum) to complete following receipt of the award.
  4. Recipient (s) must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 & a major GPA of at least 3.0.
  5. Recipient (s) must have demonstrated responsibility by working part-time as a matter of support or paying college expenses; and/or participating regularly in a service organization (university or community) or serving as a volunteer for community service or improvement.
  6. Recipient (s) must have demonstrated excellence in writing by submitting a quality research paper that was written for a Sociology or Criminology course and must submit a resume detailing their qualifications for the award.

The recipient(s) may be eligible to apply for and receive the award again provided he/she continues to meet the criteria stated above.

This award shall be announced in the Spring and disbursed in the Fall semester.
