Joe Dunn Memorial Scholarship

For students actively involved with EIU volunteerism, preferably who overcame personal obstacles. Requires 2 essays, volunteer hours report.

Full description:
The following criteria must be met:

  1. The recipient(s) must be a full-time student at Eastern Illinois University
  2. The recipient(s) must be involved in community service and exemplify going beyond the minimal efforts in their community service. The applicant’s community service efforts shall be registered with the Eastern Illinois University Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteerism. A report of hours volunteered and the type of service provided shall be used to determine this criteria.
  3. Preference shall be given to any applicant who has had a break for financial or personal reasons in their college education and who has returned to Eastern Illinois for the purpose of completing their degree.
  4. Preference shall be given to an applicant who has overcome obstacles that might have prevented degree completion.
  5. Preference shall be given to an individual who has been involved in student government in any form at Eastern Illinois University.
  6. The recipient shall maintain a grade-point average above the minimum requirements for attendance at Eastern Illinois University.
  7. Financial need is a consideration.

This award shall be announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall semester.
