Suzanne Dumville Barchers Writing Excellence Award

The following criteria must be met:
1. Must be a full-time student majoring in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Middle Level Education accepted to
Eastern Illinois University.
2. The recipient must be admitted to Teacher Education.
3. The recipient must have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours, which can include transfer hours.
4. Must maintain a minimum overall GPA of at least 3.0.
5. Financial need is not a consideration.
6. Explain what inspired you to become a teacher. Your reflective essay of 300-500 words could include: a story about one or more influential people in your life; a description of experiences such as activities, travel, or study; or work, paid or volunteer, with young people.
7. The recipient (s) are not eligible to apply for the award again.

This award is announced in the Spring and disbursed in the Fall semester.
