Gene Seymour Memorial Sports Journalism Scholarship

For juniors/seniors in Sports Journalism, with 4+ semesters of work at The Daily Eastern News. Requires 250-word essay on career goals.

Full description:
The following criteria must be met:

1. The recipient(s) must be a full-time student, majoring in Journalism, accepted to Eastern Illinois University.
2. The recipient(s) must be a senior, rising senior, junior, or rising junior whose emphasis is in news-editorial/newspaper and sports journalism.
3. The recipient(s) must be a student in good academic standing who will attend at least one additional semester prior to graduation.
4. The recipient(s) must intend to complete his/her journalism education at Eastern Illinois University.
5. The recipient(s) must have been involved in significant participation (at least four semesters) in sports journalism at The Daily Eastern News.
6. The recipient(s) must have stated an intention to pursue a career as a sports journalist and explain why in a statement of 250 words.
7. The recipient(s) shall be a person of outstanding character whose actions and conduct reflect with credit upon Eastern Illinois University.
8. The recipient(s) may be eligible to apply for and receive the award again provided he/she continues to meet the criteria stated above.

This award will be announced in the Spring and disbursed the following Fall semester.
