Brenda Edgar Scholarship For Women

For adult mothers over 25 in General Studies (BGS) program. Requires 2.5 GPA, financial need. Preference given to single mothers.

Full description:
The following criteria must be met:

  1. The recipient(s) must be admitted to the BGS or Bachelor of Arts in General Studies and accepted to Eastern Illinois University.
  2. The recipient(s) must be a returning adult parent female over the age of 25.
  3. The recipient(s) must have had a significant break in education due to life events.
  4. It is preferred that the recipient(s) have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours prior to receiving the award.
  5. The recipient(s) must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or above prior to receiving the award.
  6. The recipient(s) must display a need for financial aid.
  7. The recipient(s) must have demonstrated the ability to be successful in completing college-level work.
  8. The recipient(s) must have evidenced a commitment to completing a baccalaureate degree.
  9. Preference will be given to single-parent females who would be unable to complete a degree without financial assistance.
  10. Preference shall be given to recipient(s) coming from an abusive situation who have a strong desire to improve the quality of life for herself and her children.

This award will be announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall and Spring semester.
