McKenna Secondary Education Scholarship

The following criteria must be met:
1. The recipient must be a full-time EIU student enrolled in the field of English or History who is also enrolled in secondary education.
2. The recipient must be a junior or senior who has completed at least one education course required for secondary education teaching certification.
3. The recipient must have a grade point average of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale.
4. Financial need is not a criterion.
5. Candidates must show an interest in research either in their major field or in secondary education.
6. Candidates must submit a written character reference by a professor in their field or major.
7. Candidates must complete a personal interview with the selection committee.
8. Candidates must have earned all college credit at EIU.
9. Students are invited to apply in the Spring semester.
10. Recipient(s) may not be eligible to receive the award again.

This award is announced in the Spring and paid in the fall and spring.
