The H. Edward Brazil Award for Undergraduate Use of Quantitative Methods

The following criteria must be met:
1. The applicant(s) will submit a brief letter of application which notes the course and semester for which the paper was written. A copy of the paper submitted must also be included.
2. A letter of recommendation is required from a faculty member in the Department of Political Science.
3. The award is limited to papers turned in for partial fulfillment of course requirements in an undergraduate course in the Department of Political Science, or a paper turned in for partial fulfillment of a graduate course in the Department of Political Science that is being taken by an undergraduate student.
4. Preference given to Political Science majors, but not required.
5. Preference given to student(s) with papers that contain methodology appropriate for the particular research question addressed. In evaluating the methodology, factors such as the sophistication of the approach, clarity of the explanation of the approach and fluidity of the incorporation of the approach in the paper may be considered. The committee may consider any factors as they deem appropriate.

This award is typically announced and disbursed in the Spring semester.

This award is currently being paid by the Political Science Gift Account and will be listed as such in PAWS.
