Sidney R. Steele Student Summer Award
The following criteria must be met:
1. At the time of the award, the award recipient will be a graduate student in the Master of Science in chemistry program at Eastern Illinois University and will have at least one summer of full-time enrollment remaining in his/her MS program of study.
2. The recipient will also possess the following qualifications: (i) an undergraduate degree in chemistry from an accredited U.S. institution; (ii) overall undergraduate and graduate GPA of 3.0 (A = 4.0); (iii) undergraduate and graduate GPA of 3.0 in chemistry courses; (iv) exceptional promise for distinction in the field of chemistry.
3. In the event that a qualified graduate student cannot be identified, an undergraduate student who is enrolled in the BS in chemistry program at Eastern Illinois University may be substituted if he/she meets the following criteria:
i) will have completed:
a) At least twelve semester hours at Eastern Illinois University including at least six semester hours of chemistry;
b) One semester of Quantitative Analysis and two semesters of Organic Chemistry;
ii) Has an overall undergraduate GPA and GPA in Chemistry of 3.0/4.0;
iii) Shows exceptional promise for distinction in the field of chemistry.
4. Financial need may be a consideration in the case of candidates with essentially equal qualifications.
