Dr. Charles I. Switzer Memorial Scholarship

For junior/senior English majors, preferably those planning to teach or pursue graduate work in English. Requires 3.2 GPA, essay.

Full description:
The following criteria must be met:

1. The recipient(s) shall be a full-time student accepted to Eastern Illinois University.
2. The recipient(s) shall be a junior or senior with a declared major in English.
3. The recipient(s) shall maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 in the English major.
4. Preference will be given to a student(s) who intends to pursue graduate work in English or who plan to become certified to teach.
5. The selection committee shall require an essay of the applicants. Special consideration will be given to service and professional
   involvement, academic achievement, scholarship and leadership
6. Financial need shall be considered at the discretion of the selection committee.
7. Recipient(s) may be eligible to apply for, and receive, the award again proved s/he continues to meet the criteria stated above.

This award is announced in the Spring and disbursed in the Fall.
