Dewey H. Amos Geology and Earth Science Scholarship

For juniors in Geology or Earth Science. Requires 2.8 overall GPA, 3.2 major GPA, active participation/leadership in Department activities.

Full description:
The following criteria must be met:

1. The award recipient shall be a Junior majoring in Geology or Earth Science.
2. The recipient shall be awarded on the basis of scholarship (50%) and service and participation in Geology and Earth Science activities (50%).
3. The minimum qualification for the scholarship shall be 2.8 overall GPA and 3.2 in Geology and/or Earth Science. Service and participation in Geology and Earth Science shall be judged on participation and leadership in departmental field trips, clubs, lectures, and similar academic activities related to the department. The award shall not be presented automatically to the student with the highest GPA, nor to anyone who has not participated in departmental field trips or other activities.
4. All students who meet the minimum criterion as stated above shall be nominees in the vote. However, the recipient shall not be a student who receives or is to receive another university or Geology and/or Earth Science award the same year.
5. Financial need is NOT a consideration.

This award is announced and disbursed in the Spring semester.
