Dwight and Bette (Leckrone) Baptist Scholarship

For undergraduate and graduate students in Education, from Cowden-Herrick, Salem, or Shelbyville high schools. Requires 3.0 GPA.

Full description:
The following criteria must be met:

  1. The undergraduate recipient(s) shall be a major in Accounting or in Family and Consumer Sciences with an option in family services, dietetics, hospitality management in even-numbered fiscal years, or shall be an education major in odd-numbered fiscal years.
  2. The undergraduate recipient must be a high school graduate from the Cowden, Salem, or Shelbyville, Illinois high schools (or successor school systems)
  3. The graduate recipient(s) must be enrolled in a graduate program within the Lumpkin College of Business and Technology (MBA or Family and Consumer Sciences major) in even-numbered fiscal years, or the College of Education in odd-numbered fiscal years.
  4. Financial need is not a consideration.
  5. Award recipient shall have a minimum of 3.0 GPA.
  6. In the event of essentially equally qualified candidates, first preference would to be to the candidate from the school system not having been awarded such scholarship for the longest period of time; second preference would be to the candidate studying to be a teacher.

Award announced in the spring and awarded in the fall.
