Dr. Robert V. Wharton Scholarship

For non-traditional English majors with financial need. Requires 3.0 GPA overall, 3.25 in major, 60-95 credit hours, short essay.

Full description:
The following criteria must be met:

1. The recipient must be a full-time or part-time student, majoring in English, accepted to Eastern Illinois University.
2. The recipient must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a major GPA of at least 3.25 for courses taken at Eastern Illinois University.
3. The recipient must have between 60 and 95 hours toward graduation of which at least 30 hours must be Eastern Illinois University hours by the end of the semester in which the award is made.
4. The recipient must have demonstrated financial need.
5. The recipient must be a non-traditional student.
6. Preference will be given to single parents.
7. Preference will be given to students with a keen appreciation of and facility for the study of literature.
8. If no recipient(s) is found who meets the above-stated criteria, the award(s) will be given to the recipient(s) who most closely meets the above-stated criteria.

This award is announced in the spring and disbursed in the fall.
