Virginia (Myers) Snyder Scholarship

Established to honor a remarkable woman and mother. Virginia Myers was born to William C. and Effie Myers on June 5, 1909. She married Harold Snyder and had her first child in 1926. She had four more children in the next nine years. The strain on young woman, in her twenties, in raising five young children during the Great Depression would seem insurmountable, but Virginia prevailed. But at 35 years of age, along came her sixth and final child. In May 2005, less than a month shy of her 96th birthday, Virginia’s heart finally yielded to the inevitable.

This scholarship is to help a full-time student accepted to Eastern Illinois University with financial need.
