The Hugh C. Rawls Award

Established by Shirley Rawls in memory of her husband, Hugh C. Rawls, professor of zoology at Eastern Illinois University from 1956-1978. Mr. Rawls taught undergraduate and graduate courses in zoology and was an adviser to Beta, Beta, Beta undergraduate biology honorary. He also co-authored a cat anatomy manual that has been used by EIU faculty who teach anatomy. To assist a student of at least junior status who is choosing to major in Biological Sciences – Pre-Medical Studies or Biological Sciences – Animal Systems.
