P. Scott Smith Scholarship

This scholarship was created for the purpose of honoring Dr. P. Scott Smith who retired as a Professor of Physics after 37 years of dedicated service to his students and to the university.
As a way of honoring Dr. P. Scott Smith, a scholarship was created in his name. Dr. Smith taught in the Physics Department from 1953 to 1990 and was well-loved by his students. Some of his students wrote a tribute to him on the occasion of his 90thbirthday https://www.eiu.edu/physics/Smith.php. Dr. Smith touched the lives of many EIU Physics and Pre-Engineering students in so many positive ways. This scholarship will help students who are mentored in research in the Physics Department.
